Discover the best ever Japanese beef recipe—a quick and easy dinner idea perfect for satisfying your family’s cravings

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs beef

  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger (see notes)

  • ½ cup soy sauce of choice(naked and saucy suggested)

  • ⅓ cup mirin

  • ⅓ cup cooking sake

  • ⅓ cup sugar of choice (monk fruit suggested)

  • Optional: ½ cup frozen peas

Directions

  • Preheat your non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat.
  • Brown the beef, breaking it into bite-sized pieces, for approximately 15 minutes.
  • Whisk the remaining ingredients in a bowl until well combined, then add to the beef.
  • Continue cooking for another 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the liquid is absorbed.
  • Optional: Add peas with the marinade, stirring until well mixed and cooked off.
  • Serve hot over your choice of rice, topped with a soft poached egg, green onion, and avocado slices.

Notes

  • Keep ginger in the freezer for easy grating. Two tablespoons typically equates to 1.5 to 2 inches of grated ginger.
